Monthly Chicken Slaughterhouse Vigils
As of April 2013, Liberation BC activists have been at the intersection of Commercial Drive and Hastings Street (outside the storage facility and Hallmark Poultry Processing, a chicken slaughterhouse) weekly. Starting in December the vigil will be held monthly. Please check our News and Events page or Facebook for upcoming dates and times. We have signs for drivers to see, bringing attention to what is happening behind the big grey wall, as well as leaflets for pedestrians. Read all about it and see more photos on our blog and on Flickr.

Hallmark Poultry Processing primarily takes broiler chickens, who are raised for meat and sent to slaughter at 45 days old, and occasional turkeys. “Spent” battery-caged egg-laying hens and organic egg-layers also show up at the plant, though infrequently.
