How to make a holiday Unturkey roast

Back in the 1990’s there were two store bought holiday roasts. Tofurky and Unturkey. Nowadays it seems that no one remembers the Unturkey even though it far surpasses the Tofurky in flavor, texture and presentation. Unturkey was invented by Miyoko Nishimoto Schinner from San Francisco, who also owned the company, Now & Zen. Besides Unturkey,

Help revise our Talking Turkey leaflet

I was engaged in a bit of an exchange with Gary Francione over the past couple of days, and he made a good point about our turkey leaflet – that it was exclusively focused on the treatment of turkeys. Personally, I think it should still deal with treatment in some fashion, but it would improve

Across the internet this past week (late!)

Sorry I’m late in posting this. I had a busy weekend. Kevin and Karl – Turkeys at RestQ Sanctuary

Rest.Q Sanctuary is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and not just because it’s nestled in the trees on Mayne Island. No, the residents of this small sanctuary make it one of the nicest places to visit. These residents include tropical birds, a herd of Alpacas, ducks, chickens, rabbits, chinchillas, pigs, and more.

I’m in San Francisco for the Nonprofit Technology Conference (not paid for by Liberation BC), which is always nice. I came a few days early to see an old friend, and the conference started Sunday morning, so I ended up with a completely free Saturday. In an unusually compulsive act, I decided to rent a
