January volunteer night

Another month, another night with the best volunteers in all of BC! For January’s volunteer night, we stamped literally thousands of Vegan Outreach leaflets, cut up sticker sheets, and organized pins.  Our amazing team of 13 whooshed through these tasks at lightning-fast rate. As always, we had lots of interesting conversations, too: from advocacy tactics

Leafleting and Lessons at the Paul McCartney Concert

On Sunday, November 25th, Liberation BC and 12 dedicated volunteers braved a frosty evening outside gate A at BC Place Stadium to speak out for animals.  Beneath a larger-than-life screen playing music and film footage from McCartney and Beatles concerts throughout the years, all 17 of us spread into the crowd of thousands of people waiting outside

Sign-making fun at November volunteer night

Taking inspiration from a handful of Paul’s quotes about his vegetarian lifestyle, we set to work: Due to

We had a special guest for October’s volunteer night: John Oberg, one of Vegan Outreach‘s regional coordinators, came to Nice Shoes to speak and offer tips as to how to be a more effective leafleter.  John is in the midst of a leafleting tour, travelling around the continent as part of Vegan Outreach’s Adopt-a-College program.  As

Vegan Mofo #4: Veggie Lunch at Simon Fraser University

The best days to hand out Vegan Outreach booklets at SFU is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Why?  Because of the veggie lunch of course! Every Tuesday and Wednesday, there’s a Hare Krishna who serves up hot vegetarian food for $5 donation in the basement of the Maggie Benson building in the Forum Chamber.  It’s not

Walkin’ and talkin’ for animals

Today was simply packed with activity. First, we had the Walk for Farm Animals. About 50 people were pre-registered and many more showed up for the walk and registered on the spot. All told, we had over 70 people walking (someone said they counted 80 people)! The biggest walk we’ve organized so far! We don’t

Car Free Day – fun in the sun and so much more

I was tabling at the Denman Car Free Day on Sunday with Alison and Neda. Our booth was right at the Davie end of the festival, right by the beach. It was a beautiful day, and we had a great time. I can’t even remember a single negative encounter to tell you about. There was
